Don’t Take Yosemite for Granite
Lost Arrow Spire
Just to the right of the thunderous winter runoff of YosemiteFalls, Lost Arrow Spire emerges from the main cliff wall and reaches for the sky. Ancient glacial forces have somehow left this spire partially attached, creating an empty void that is 55 feet wide. Astonishingly, climbers in Yosemite Valley will stretch ropes from the main wall to the top of Lost Arrow Spire and will cross the void in what is called a Tyrolean Traverse. Although outlawed in the past, the park now allows specially-coordinated slacklining between the wall and Lost Arrow Spire.
